Visitors to the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon, France will have the chance to see many items from the collection of Emile Guimet (1836-1918).
Guimet, a local industrialist, visited Egypt in 1865. This was to spark an interest in collecting Egyptian antiquity which was to span over a period of 50 years.
Items on display include stelae, statues, amulets, papyri and sarchophagi. The exhibition runs until the 2 July 2012.
