Mystery solved of the Wilsonville Mummy

A mummy that was placed for sale on eBay by a Wilsonville mummy has undergone scans and xrays at the Oregon State University's Veterinary Medical School.  The posting had attracted the attention of two scientists who asked to conduct tests on the mummy to find out more of its history.  Hilary Lester had inherited the mummy she had nicknamed Gretchen, from her late father, an antique collector, who had purchased in in the 1970s for his museum in North Carolina.

The scans and xrays have revealed that the mummy is in fact constructed of wood, nails and possibly the bones of animals.  The fake mummy is likely to have been part of P T Barnum's travelling circus.
