Richmond Mummy's Story Told

A 'Where's Your Mummy?" day sounds like fun at the Wayne County Historical Museum in Richmond.  Dressing up, hands on activities and wrapping toy animals as mummies are all part of the day.

The day celebrates the history surrounding a mummy which has been in the collection since 1930 when it was purchased by the founder of the museum, Julia Meek Gaar, in Cairo.   Recent research by Bonnie Sampsall has gained new information on the mummy and she will be visiting the museum for the event.  The mummy, dated to the 22nd Dynasty by Sampsale, will be on exhibit for visitors together with a reconstruction of its face.
