Egyptian sarcophagus' curious history unveiled

Emily Millward, Collections Assistant at the Research and Cultural Collections of the University of Birmingham, has written an interesting piece in the latest edition of Current Archaeology about a sarcophagus lid at the University of Birmingham.  I wrote about the lid - nicknamed 'George' - on the 13 November 2012 reporting that it was due to be returned to the University after being away for a spell of 50 years.  It had previously lain within the Leamington Art Gallery and Museum.  In this article, Emily discusses George's history - both old and new.
