Review of Joann Fletcher's Ancient Egypt - Life and Death

Tom Lubek writing for The Yorker reviews last week's programme Ancient Egypt - Life and death starring Joann Fletcher.

"Whilst documentaries about ancient Egypt are hardly new, Joann Fletcher’s enthusiasm, coupled with her focus on the story of architect Kha and his wife Meryt, means that this documentary feels fresh and offers a glimpse of the lives of ordinary ancient Egyptians. We’ve all seen program after program about pharaohs, temples, gods, pyramids and treasure but these can feel distant and remote. The story of Kha and Meryt however, two people whose lives could be any of our own, is much more resonant."
