"Museums at Night: Egyptian Extravaganza 

Bristol Museum and Art Gallery
Thursday 16 May, 5pm to 8pm
Free event.
Join one of the Young British Artists Gavin Turk and Bristol Museum and Art Gallery for a happening with the Pharaohs!
The museum will be throwing open its doors after hours for Museums at Night, Culture24's festival of inspiring after hours cultural events in museums, galleries and heritage sites. In collaboration with artist Gavin Turk the museum will host an Egyptian Extravaganza inspired by the museum’s latest exhibition from the British Museum, Pharaoh: King of Egypt.
The mystical evening of Egyptian themed encounters include:
  • Egyptian makeup
  • Arabic music and dance performances
  • Egyptian tales 
  • Pyramid building
  • Gallery tours
  • Fancy dress competition - come inspired by ancient Egypt - Pharaohs, mummies and explorers all welcome! The winner will be chosen at 7.30pm. Please meet at reception.
Gavin Turk will reveal his own quirky interpretation of a magic flying carpet experience by exploring the mystical power of the pyramid, linking ancient and modern Egyptian worlds.
Pharaoh: Reborn and the museum’s fantastic Egypt gallery will also be available to explore after hours.

For one night only, visitors will also be able to enjoy 2 for 1 entry on tickets for Pharaoh: King of Egypt between 5-8pm*.
